11:00 - Natural and Non-prescription Health Products Directorate (NNHPD) presentation
Health Canada's Natural and Non-Prescription Health Products Directorate and the Pharmaceutical Drugs Directorate will be presenting on key regulatory modernization initiatives. In particular, this presentation will serve to introduce an ambitious vision for the modernization of Canada's clinical trials regulatory framework that will better serve the needs of Canadian stakeholders while continuing to protect the safety of trial participants in a modern healthcare ecosystem. The presentation will also provide updates on the implementation of the Self-Care Framework as well as work underway to develop a potential regulatory pathway for health products containing cannabis that would not require practitioner oversight.
A shared understanding between the regulator and the research community of key regulatory modernization projects underway will support and enable increased opportunities for collaboration between Health Canada and the Natural Health Product Research Society of Canada.
